Almost a village visit!

We left home at around 8:30am this morning and were planning to catch a PMV
from the main markets and head out to the village at Kaubasis. We had
arranged to meet Uncle Joel at the “Hut” and pay for some cane matting made
by one of the locals which is to be used for the walls and ceilings. We
waited at the markets for around an hour and a half for a PMV ride before we
gave up and headed back home
.
As much as we were looking forward to visiting the village and meeting up
with some of the rural clan, I think both of us felt a little relieved to be
going back home and just having a relaxing day together. We normally have
people around the house and time out, just the two of us, seems the
exception nowadays. We stayed at home and relaxed for a little before
heading back to town for lunch at The Bird. The Bird of Paradise is the
local 4 star Hotel with an indoor/outdoor terrace overlooking a resort style
pool. We indulged in some Thai Chicken style pizza, followed by some brewed
coffee and apple pie with ice-cream. We talked, shared, cracked jokes and
bumped into some friends with whom we chatted for a bit.

When we got home later in the afternoon, Eli setup market out front of the
house and sold the buai and smokes that we had bought earlier in the day to
take to the village with us. We wanted to recoup the K20 that these items
had cost us. As of 7pm this evening Eli had managed to sell K18's worth. We
will put this money aside for when we next head out to Kaubasis, it will of
course go towards buying buai and smoke for the folks back at the village
that are working on the “hut”.

To make the day a little bit more interesting, we were recently delighted to
discover something herbal growing in our front yard - Comfrey. Comfrey is
one of those herbs that can be used to treat all sorts of ailments and
aches. So whilst Eli was working her liklik market out the front of the
house, I picked some Comfrey leaves, prepared a poultice and bandaged her
left elbow, an old injury which has been causing her some grief of late.

All in all, another pleasant day in paradise.
