I headed to Kaubasis today to check on the progress of the “Hut”. Uncle Joel and “crew” have been very busy and building is almost complete. The structure is up, the roofing is finished and the walls and ceilings are almost there. The next item on the agenda are the doors and windows. Three doors all up, front entrance and two bedrooms. As far as windows - I think we agreed on six all together.
It's an undescribable feeling I have when approaching the “Hut”. All these people working away, selflessly and with focus. All working on our “dream” home - getting it ready for when Mum comes in September. Amazing stuff - a dream come true - no more than a dream come true. There's moments when I feel like I'm in a dream. The dream!
With time - the connection I have with Eli's people is growing. There's a mutual appreciation and respect, we can sit down for hours and “story” - share - crack jokes and laugh. There's a bond forming which I suspect will continue to grow for a very long time. There's something that happens when old and new come together in a respectful way. There exists in my opinion, common ground amongst all humans.
The best is yet to come… (more on this another time!)
Photos!

The “biggest” hut in the village is slowly coming to life…

Rob, it's looking good - real nice, a home. I hope I can come there one day and help with the garden / landscape… js
