Our good old mate Benjamin…

On the front page of yesterday's Post Courier

Our good old mate Benjamin... photoThe bloke stole K8000 from my volunteer mate Anthony last year. The evidence was on ANZ Bank video - black and white! A sure conviction you might think! Not so in PNG… the stupid ANZ Bank somehow managed to accidentally delete the video footage. The case was thrown out of court after pretty boy Benjamin boy spent three months in Buimo Gaol just outside of Lae.

To add salt to the wound and interestingly enough yesterday's story was about a meeting of election scrutineers from the Lae District. I would certainly like to know how the F*&? con-boy landed the job with the Electoral Commission. If this is a sample of what sort of folks are counting and scrutineering votes in PNG - there's definitely no hope for a fair and just outcome.

Countdown

provincial election manager Simon Sinai explains to scrutineers the law on
ballot papers after a disagreement at the start of counting for the Lae
Open. Counting is being held at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium and
continues today after being suspended at 4pm yesterday.

Just a note that the scrutineers are representatives for a candidate, not Electoral Commission employees. There are several criminals and shady individuals standing for election in Lae - Minape, Badui, Wamben and Samana for example so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise if they employ a fellow low life like Benjamin.
