You left us this morning Mum,
and the tears flowed,
we were all sad to see you leave.

Despite the queue jumping,
you boarded that flight and
right now,
you will shortly be home again.

PNG was your home for one month,
it was tops having you around,
you tasted the intensity of life
in the Land of the Unexpected.

The tears continued to flow
even after you left,
we were all sad,
and your new family misses you already.

Despite belonging,
there is separation
but despite separation
there is always connection.

Your room will be left as you left it,
for a few days at least,
our hearts ache
for your presence.

And as you boarded that plane today,
you kept peering back,
I know your heart was touched
so was ours.

PNG does that to one…
for here we have humanity,
the love and caring
can never be forgotten.

Mum…
as far away as you now are,
you remain close,
very close Mum.
