Goroka…

Here we come !!

Early tomorrow I will be leaving Lae and heading up to Goroka for the weekend. This will be my 2nd visit to this Eastern Highlands town and on this occasion I will be travelling with Eli. I am certainly looking forward to a couple of days away from campus and immersing myself with the locals and also the cooler climate.

A couple of previous blog postings from the 1st trip should give you an idea of what's install:

Where is Goroka ?

To Goroka and back and one “Extreme Bus Ride”….

As the 2nd story suggests - I am definitely not looking forward to the bus ride up the “mountain”.  Hopefully 2nd time round I will be less prone to the proverbial “brown pants” syndrome. Let's wait and see. And of course, there is always the possibility of a hold-up travelling through Kasam Pass - and this certainly adds to the risk factor but also increases the adventure component. Precautions will of course need to be taken : like lots of spare toilet paper!

What will be will be.

This time I will endeavour to take some photos. On my 1st trip I was too nervous to pull out my camera. So watch this space for some visual stimulation!

It's also going to be interesting travelling with Eli. Eli's family are from the Goroka area and we are planning on catching up with one of her uncles whilst we are in town. The immersement with the locals will be more intense than my 1st stay due to the high probability of Eli running into some of her clan / tribe.

And of course there are the Kakaruk Markets…

Lets hope that the Unexpected remains positive !!
