A gathering of the eight Keto-Tapasi clans - the Preparation

For three days and nights the eight Keto-Tapasi Clans rejoiced. Young and old, they danced and they sang, they celebrated the traditions of their ancestors. Men that had never worn bilas before did so for the first time. The old sat down with the young to teach them the intricacies of body decoration. Over the three day period singsing groups from all over Kaubasis expressed custom with spontaneity and pride. Many an old folk told me how they had not witnessed such a display of unity and community spirit since they were young kids…

After almost 15 months of hard and persistent work we have finally received our certificate of registration from the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA). Open Source and potential savings for Papua New Guinea

The following article was published in today’s issue of The National and written by PNG journalist Malum Nalu. The article is based on a white paper I wrote some months ago titled: “An Open Source Software (OSS) Initiative in a PNG Hospital”. Four nights in Port Moresby

And I’m ready to head back home.

There would have been a time in my life when doing the Gateway thing and indulging in K50 buffet breakfasts would have been right up my alley. Four days of living life in the fast lane and rubbing shoulders with the who’s who in Papua New Guinea is enough. I suspect that when my plane finally touches down at Goroka and get to see Eli again, I will be overcome with a sense of relief and homecoming…

Goroka General Hospital website a first for PNG

The following article was written by Malum Nalu and will hopefully be published in The National later next week. In more ways than one the timing of this article could not have been better. With the Hospital currently going through a process of seeking funding to extend the IT Project to include an Electronic Patient Records System, Malum’s article could not have come at a better time and will certainly attract some much needed attention. There currently exists a golden window of opportunity for Open Source Software Developments in Papua New Guinea and the task of getting this fact through to potential donors and/or investors is turning out to be an arduous challenge…
