Rantings

Rantings

The rantings and ravings of this finely tuned lunatic in the form of poetry and verse. A quasi attempt to share with you insights into the indescribable. The truth will set you free but it will probably kick your arse first. Be my guest!

“That’s how life is”

And here we go again
another exam,
more supervision,
and of course
more marking

“Papua New Guinea”

Tribalism, magic and religion, churches, preachers and song, fresh food, buai and plenty of languages, corruption, violence and laughter.

Tribalism, magic and religion,
churches, preachers and song,
fresh food, buai and plenty of languages,
corruption, violence and laughter.

“Exams”

Hate the bastards!

The moment of truth!
A short few hours,
to demonstrate and prove
one’s competence

“Potholes”

Everyday
I get to checkout the local potholes,
worse by the day,
an incredible collection of potholes,
by far.

“Letting go”

Nothing lasts forever
sorry to disappoint you but
Not even God.
The mountains, rivers and planets;
life, family and friends,
all shall pass

“Malaria”

The big “M” can go screw itself

Its back again,
that dam illness!
Starts of with the sniffles
or perhaps a leaking arse
and then it hits you.

“Mum”

To you Mum

you gave me life,
you fed me when I was hungry,
you held me close to your bossom
you held me when I cried,
and you loved me unconditionally
for this I thank you Mum

“A new home”

This afternoon I came back to Lae after briefly visiting the Goroka Coffee Festival, staying with Eli’s relatives in “Massey” and catching up with vollie mate Kevin in “Aiyura” (near Kainantu). When I hit Eriku after getting off the Highlands PMV it struck me

“Balance”

Tis now Sunday PM,
that preacher woke me up again
and the new church loudspeakers seem to working well.
Thank you very much !

Yesterday – just wasn’t my day!

There was plenty of ranting and raving yesterday (Sunday) and not all of it coming from the preacher across the road. Most days I am filled with joy to be living here in PNG and spending time interacting with the locals, learning about a new culture etc
