Time is getting away

With my last working day at Goroka General Hospital set for the 29th of January and return flight to Sydney booked for 8th of February time is surely ticking away.

My dear Mum sent an email recently telling me how much she misses the old blog and although she appreciates the current look and feel most of what she reads nowadays does not hold much interest for her

We’re back!!

After more than two months being off the air – Trupela is back online! A few months older and hopefully a little wiser we’re back in business. Note the blog! A new layout and theme with a totally different feel. Lots of stories and experiences to share with you – some happy and others sad. PNG continues to be a heaven and a hell merged into one. The unexpected still prevails!

Unfortunately I have had to take this blog offline. It seems that some of the stories and photos I have posted over the past two days in relation to the looting and riots in Goroka have not gone down too well in certain circles. As much as I love this blog and sharing with you the good, the bad and the ugly – under the circumstances I feel that I need to respect this request

Home phone working once again

My wife is a Papua New Guinean from Madang; I met her when I was over with VSO in the late 90s and had a great time. The plan was for us to return to PNG after a short spell in England, but for various reasons we’ve ended up staying here.

29 days without a cigarette

29 days without a cigarette and my head is spinning like a top. Still have this strong sense that something is missing or not quite right (only an ex smoker would understand this) but I know that this feeling of uncomfortability will pass.
